Sterling Silver Wade & Butcher straight razor 7day set
with 3" long x 5/8" Double Shoulder, Bullet head blades with the Improved Tang (Rare Long Tang). Bullet head to end of tang is 6". These razors were Imported from Sheffield England by Curley NY "Aristos" The high-resolution pictures highlight the most minor stains in the steel but on inspection without magnification the dark areas are bright and shiny. See the video. Please note that silver polish has not been used on the handles. There are no chips in the blades.
These razors are spectacular and extremely rare
. In their day they would have been considered a very expensive gift. This set is hand engraved, and every razor has unique but with similar flowers. Each has been engraved with initials for its owner. The box is in poor condition but managed to protect these razors for over 100 years. Latch functions perfectly but one brass hinge is disconnected. The silversmith's marks are shown in the pictures but Wednesday and Thursday have a hand scratched 4672A mark that can only be read with a jeweler's loop. Saturday, Monday and the empty cylinder have 4672 B. These may be insurance engravings. Also noting that Monday's Sterling stamp is on the back handle instead of the front. This was probably artist error and not intentional. We do not have the experience to determine whether the silversmith was in England or if Curley had an American Silversmith do the work.
