This is an
antique
Wade & Butcher
straight razor with an etched
6/8" wide
(.72" - .80")
frameback blade and black bovine horn scales. The blade is etched "The Unequalled & Justly Famed Patent frameback Razor." The tang is marked,
"Manufactured by
Wade & Butcher, Sheffield," along with the Wade & Butcher trademark.
The blade
shows little evidence of hone wear. T
here are no nicks in the cutting edge, and it's free of any cracks.
The blade has a 3 inch cutting edge and seems to be the original full length. The blade is lightly spotted with surface rust and pitting. The scales aren’t warped and they work fine, but they have wear, and they're cracked at toe and pivot on one side (see pictures).
The blade fits loosely between the scales.
Insurance is required on all shipments and will be charged with a handling fee and included in the shipping quote. Handling fee reflects Ebay’s change in policy where they now charge the seller a 10% commission on the shipping costs.
