PROVENANCE: The Robert A. Shapiro Chicago Cubs Baseball Memorabilia Collection. We at Second Story Books are honored to serve as the exclusive agents for the sale of material from the estate of Robert A. Shapiro, a Washington, D.C. resident and government official whose Chicago Cubs memorabilia collection was widely considered one of the finest in the country (Wolfe, 25). Shapiro was former chair of the Emil Verban Memorial Society, the invite-only Chicago Cubs fan club of Washington, D.C. that has counted presidents and Supreme Court justices among its members. He was closely acquainted with several of the Cubs "greats" from the 60s and 70s, and his collection includes personal letters and items gifted by the likes of Ernie Banks and Billy Williams (Hall of Fame '77 and '87, respectively). We will be listing over a thousand pieces of vintage sports memorabilia from this extraordinary collection in the coming months, including but not limited to: game worn uniforms, signed balls and signed bats; original photographs, antique pennants, vintage pins;  Wrigley Field signage, stadium seats, and stadium flown flags; and of course, Cubs World Series Souvenirs from all 11 of their appearances from 1906 to 2016.
Many items in this collection have never before been offered up on the market, and many may never be again. This is a must-see not only for Cubs fans, but to any devotee to the sport as well. We encourage you to follow our eBay page at ssbantiques, and stay tuned for new listings everyday. Messages are always welcome.
