French Art Deco Gryphon on Cream Color Galalith Brooch Pin Painlevé Painleve

Description

You are looking at a vintage Art Deco era (1930's or 40's) pin or brooch depicting a gryphon. This one is on a cream color galalith and brass metal backing.  Galalith is a plastic contemporary to bakelite. Although unsigned, it is most likely the work of the jewelry designer Jean Painlevé. He worked with both galalith and bakelite plastics when he made jewelry.
The pin measures 1 5/8"  across by 1 3/8" tall.
In excellent
condition, no chips or cracks. Light wear from age. Clasp works fine.
