Description
This is an interesting antique Straight Razor.Straight razor is marked, "
Celebrated IXL" "Rockingham Works" and "
Sheffield" and
was made by
George Wostenholm & Sons.
Rockingham Works was in production from 1694 -1847.
Straight razor has a wooden or horn handle [see below]. The handle is chipped in a few places. Handle is otherwise solid. [see photos].
Blade is 3" long by 3/4" wide and is concave.
This straight razor would be welcome part of any collection.
NOTE: We are selling the straight razor "AS FOUND", There is corrosion on the blade which we have not removed, since some people prefer the antique/vintage look of thee blade. [The blade is shinier than in the photos].

With the scaling and cracks I would say the scales are horn. A good sanding and soaking in neetsfoot oil should help tremendously. Bug bites can be filled with powdered horn and superglue.
