Description
I love researching the history of the old cutlers. The history behind them is sometimes as interesting as the blades themselves.JW Stutter was a storefront cutlery in London at 133 Bishopsgate.Β The last two pics are pics I found of his storefront and the 365 blade knife he made for display at the Great Exhibition held each year in London.Β He made one blade for each day of the year.
Stutter blades are rare.Β This is the only one I've ever had in my collection; I believe it dates to circa 1870.Β Β It has polished carved bone scales and I don't believe the blade edge has ever been resharpened, if it was, it was lightly done.Β And as you'll see in the pics it can cut sliver thin paper curls.Β The tip end of the off side of the scale is broken off but this is cosmetic and doesn't affect the function of the razor. otherwise there are no pin cracks, chips, or repairs.Β The blade measures 10/16ths"
A knife box is included but it doesn't match this razor.
No international sales on straight razors.
