    Description

This auction is for a very nice and very old straight razor made in Sheffield England, I'm sure in the 1800's. I looked at all the names I could find and still cannot identify this piece. The top of the stamps allows me to read; something that could be an 'o' then TSONS.  I don't think it is a company with and sons, but a name that ended in sons.  The blade is nice with a hump back and barber's notch. It has 'X CELEBRATED RAZOR' under the makers name and Sheffield  under that. The handles are pretty good with one small crack in one end to the rivet and it has beautiful mother of pearl or abalone inlays on one side. I really think they are bone. The back side has some name or inscription scratched in it too, but I can't make it out. This was a high quality razor that will still make a great addition to any collection.......
