Vintage 90 Puma High Class Straight Razor or Cut-Throat Knife! Solingen, Germany

Offered for your consideration is a beautiful vintage Puma #90 "High Class" straight razor or "cut-throat" knife. The razor was made in Solingen, Germany and it has a great look. It offers full measures of the fine German quality and craftsmanship that made Solingen one of the world's premier cutlery centers.
The razor has seen only light use and it remains very solid with lots of life left. It has not been buffed or polished and remains original. There are no repairs or replacement components and the razor is completely original. Unfortunately, it looks as though the razor was mis-used to scrape something, which resulted in edge chipping that will need to be corrected if the razor is intended for use. It should clean up very nicely and the result will be a very fine razor.
The razor was beautifully crafted and it has a classic, elegant look all the way around. The carbon steel blade was double forged and beautifully ground. The gold etch strikes a dramatic contrast against the mirrored blade finish. The blade is free of any significant corrosion or pitting with just a couple scattered small spots of fine surface peppering as shown. The blade finish remains very bright and nearly all of the original mirrored finish remains intact. The blade shows no grind marks or sharpening abrasions and it looks as though it may have been lightly stropped before being damaged. Aside from the chipping, the edge exhibits just some roughness from minor edge corrosion. This will resolve with a fresh edge. The gorgeous handle appears to be of celluloid or a similar composite material in a faux tortoise shell pattern. It's free of any chips, cracks, gouges, or damage and remains translucent. The silky-smooth surfaces show very little wear and the original handle sticker remains intact. The surfaces remain fully lustrous with no stains, discoloration, bleaching, or sun fade. The handle is completely free of any marring or degradation. The inside surfaces of the handle and the pivot area are free of old soap residue or soiling. The inlaid Puma shield remains tightly secured with no marring or damage. The handle remains very solid and tight with the blade remaining in the handle with the razor inverted.
The blade is 11/16" wide and the razor measures 6-1/4" closed (including the tail). It measures 9-3/8" fully opened.
There is no box with this razor.
