    Description

    Hi,
My name is Mike, and my hobby and passion
    is
antique/vintage razors. I love the history, quality, & craftsmanship of the razors that were made back then. I have been collecting, restoring, honing, and shaving with straight razors for many years, and I still enjoy it as much as the day I started.
There was a time when straight razors were commonly used in barber shops and at home. Most men owned a straight razor,
    strop
, and a honing stone. They were prized possessions that were cherished and cared for. The antique/vintage razors were very well made with excellent quality steel and craftsmanship. They are wonderful pieces of history and excellent shavers. I think the old saying "they
    don't
make them like they used to" definitely applies to razors.
These straight razors have a very long and interesting history. Shaving with a piece that is 100-200 years old is awesome in my opinion. I enjoy preserving and seeing these wonderful straight razors go back into circulation for generations to come.
When I acquire a vintage razor, it will go through a process before being listed in my auctions. Everything is done carefully and mostly by hand. Depending on the condition of the razor I acquired, it will have either a
    light,
or full reconditioning. Each razor if needed will have received the treatments listed below:
    1) Removal of active rust, dirt, grime, oxidation, & corrosion
    2) Pins tightened or hardware replaced on loose scales. New scales made for razors with damaged ones
    3) Polishing both the blade & scales
    4) Honing, stropping, test shaving the edge, sterilizing the razor, re-strop, wrapping in vci paper for rust protection
Some of the straight razors are well over 100 years old, so they might have a few cosmetic age spots, blemishes, or pitting marks that remained after restoration. My objective is to recondition the blade without compromising the integrity of the steel.

Every razor goes through a proper & thorough honing session. Afterwards the edge is inspected under a scope to verify there are no micro chips, or problem areas not seen by the naked eye. The razor will also receive a shave test to insure you are receiving
a razor that will deliver a comfortable close shave. Then the blade is sterilized with
    barbicide
& isopropyl alcohol. Before shipping the razor gets a final strop & is wrapped in VCI rust protection paper
. (You can reuse the VCI paper if you desire)
Most of the razors I list will end their honing session on a
    high quality
Japanese natural stone. If I do finish a razor on a Coticule, Thuringian, Arkansas, or Synthetic stone it will be mentioned in the notes below.
    Additional notes/comments:
Up on the block is a very nice
    very
    high-quality
vintage straight razor that was made in Solingen Germany. This razor came from a
    high end 7 day
set, and it is marked Thursday
. The razor is in really good shape
    ,
and it is a real beauty. It has bold jimping, a nice fancy tooled spine, and the blade face reads Souvenir of
    Wiesbaden
. Each razor in the set represented a different city in Germany.
The scales are the original fancy inlay with bolsters.
    This a
    fantastic offering for your consideration.
